This website ist a
Special Interest Blog and especially dedicated to the subject of
Open Source. But it is
not targeted primarily at Open Source
users, because there are enough blogs for them. This blog is rather targeted at Open Source
makers like open source developers, vendors and marketers.
Experience shows that one can invest an unlimited amount of time into a website. But
I want to use this blog to actually save time. Therefore, I want to create an archive here where I can point to clients, partners, colleagues and other interested parties when questions regarding Open Source arise.
My second goal for this website is to create a platform for open discussions among Open Source makers because there is still a lot to talk about: marketing activities that work, differences between Open Source licenses, working business models, strategies to find investors, advantages and disadvantages of locations for a company, and so on.
A point which is important to me to clarify: Everything I write here is my own personal opinion because this is a vendor-independent website! Furthermore, I will not disclose any confidential information here. Therefore, I kindly ask you to bear with me that I will anonymize some examples to protect my sources of information.
By the way: This website runs on 100% open source, of course: Is uses the classic LAMP stack, consisting of a
Linux operating system (Open Suse), the web server
Apache Httpd, the relational DBMS
MySQL and the programming language
PHP as well as the CMS software
Serendipity.
